Whereas, against it, the Fortuner engine has powered by 3.0 liter D-4D of packaging with Intercooler Turbocharger and 4-Cylinder in-line technology. And it can reach up to the maximum power of 171 Ps at 3600 rpm and 343 NM of torque at 1400-3400 rpm.

Here, there are no much big differences between them except their prices. There is about Rs. 1 lakh of difference in their prices which makes Toyota Fortuner much more compatible to the needs of Indian customers.

With the introduction of the internationally acclaimed Santa Fe, which offers an unmatched combination of power and luxury supported by cutting-edge technology, Hyundai aims to grab a bigger share of the highly competitive SUV segment in the country.

In India, Santa Fe will be available with 2.2L CRDi engine – the most powerful and efficient engine in its class - that delivers a maximum power of 197PS/4000 rpm and an impressive torque of 42.9 kgm/1800~2500rpm – both highest in class. Available in six speed manual transmission, with an option of 2WD and 4WD, the high-tech engine incorporates a host of advanced technologies aimed at delivering an optimal balance of performance, excellent drivability on all terrains and a segment best fuel mileage of 14.66 kmpl (ARAI certified).

In India Santa Fe will be imported as CBU (Completely Built Units) from South Korea.

Santa Fe underscores Hyundai's leadership in standardizing the industry's most effective safety technologies. It has been awarded a Five Star safety rating by NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) making it one of the safest SUVs to drive in. Santa Fe comes with a premium safety feature - ESP (Electronic Stability Program) which is one of the industry's most effective life-saving technologies, that integrates the functions of EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) system, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and TCS (Traction Control System) to ensure greater driving stability.

Hyundai launches new SUV Santa Fe, Priced at Rs. 20.95 - 22.95 Lakhs

Korean Auto giant Hyundai launched its world wide best seller luxury SUV "Santa Fe" in the Indian market on 14th October, 2010. Hyundai Santa Fe is a 7 seater 2.2litre (2199cc), four cylinder, DOHC (16Valve), CRDi engine.

Hyundai Santa Fe is launched in 2 variants, a two-wheel drive only (4×2) and the four-wheel-drive variant (4×4). Santa Fe comes with six-speed manual transmission with leather seats, climate control, cruise control, a decent audio-kit and large 18” alloy wheels.

Santa Fe packed with safety features by six-airbags and a fairly advanced ESP system. Hyundai claimed a mileage of 14.66 kpl and will mainly compete with Honda CRV, Chevrolet Catptiva, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Nissan X-Trail and upcoming Skoda Yeti.

Hyundai is going to launch their new SUV "Santa Fe" in India this October to establish themselves in this segment after failed with Terracan and Tucson. Hyundai will import Santa Fe with powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine which packs in 150 bhp, with ESP, ABS and EBD.

Hyundai Santa Fe will compete with segment leader Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.

Rs. 23 to 26 Lakhs
