The country’s largest vehicle maker Tata Motors launched a new four-wheel small passenger carrier – Magic IRIS – in the Indian market on Tuesday. The new IRIS model has been priced at Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom Thane, near Mumbai). The all new IRIS model has been launched as a better substitute for current three-wheeler passenger carriers.
Speaking to the reporters, Tata Motors President, Commercial (CVBU), Ravi Pisharody said, "Magic IRIS is a better alternative to auto rickshaws and other similar three-wheeler passenger carriers. This small passenger vehicle segment is doing well and we hope people accept this vehicle."
Powered by a 611-cc, water-cooled engine, the IRIS model is capable of delivering a peak power of 11hp. The new model carries a warranty of one year/ 36,000 kms. It has been offered in four exciting colors including arctic white, ruby red, school yellow and jet black.
The company has also launched a new 600Kg smart micro truck, Ace Zip that has been priced at Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom Thane, near Mumbai). The Ace pick-up carries the same warranty of one year/ 36,000 kms.
In a statement given on Tuesday, Tata Motors' Managing Director (India Operations), P M Telang, said, "Tata Motors has been a pioneer in creating and growing the small commercial vehicles market in India with the Tata Ace and the Tata Magic. With the introduction of Magic IRIS and Ace Zip the company will more comprehensively address the burgeoning need of public transportation and goods movement."
