Volkswagen aims to launch a mini-crossover in view of demand in Europe

Volkswagen, one of the largest selling brands in the Volkswagen Group, intends to launch a mini-size crossover for the European auto market. The company already has compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the form of Tiguan, and the planned mini crossover will be placed underneath it. This announcement was made by Mr. Walter De’Silva, the design head of Volkswagen.

The mini-size crossover possesses great demand in the European auto sector, but at present Volkswagen do not hold such vehicle in its lineup. Allowing its French rival Renault to cater the demand with its small crossover in the form of Duster. The immense demand in the market for these sorts of vehicles can be measured from the fact that this segment has registered a sales high of 81 percent in recent times with the sales of 112, 530 units in the European market.

Out of these many vehicles sold, there were about 76,204 units of Duster alone. Sighting such a lucrative and tempting demand and with the competitor making the most out of it, Volkswagen plans to launch a similar vehicle that would be capable enough to provide a fitting threat to Renault.

The German auto will not only be launching a solo vehicle to challenge its rivals, but a wide variety of such crossovers to meet various demands of the consumer in the continent.
The company also plans to come up with a full-sized Touareg SUV apart from the launch of mini-crossover. The company, which is headquartered in Germany, has displayed its concept of Cross Coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show and we are sure to see the glimpse of that concept in all of the upcoming crossovers to be rolled out by Volkswagen in near future.
